- Entrants must be amateur* vocalists between the ages of 19 and 99, with valid Government issued ID
- Entrants must be residents of Ontario, Michigan or Ohio.
- All entrants must submit a completed registration form, including email due prior to auditioning.
- Entrants must show proof of residence or student ID at the time of registration if requested.
- Entrants chosen to move on to successive rounds must be committed to participating in any productions following the first, and be sure they are available to participate in any performances at Bluesfest International on Sunday, July 13, 2008.
- Participation in the auditions will be held at the qualifying locations on their respective dates. This is first come, first served, based on registration submission. Registration may be made by email. Your Registration deadline is June 14, 2008.
- The breakdown of succession is as follows:
First rounds: To be held between the dates of April 22-June 14 at the following locations on the following days and times:
- Tuesdays: Casa’s 2477 Dougall 9:30PM-1:30AM
- Wednesdays: The Whiskey 9PM-1AM
- Thursdays: The Mill 3199 Sandwich 9:00PM-1:00AM
First round winners chosen by either Pat Ryan or a representative of KingSize Entertainment or representative of the host location. There will be 2 people qualifying for the Quarter Finals each night of the 8 weeks of qualifying rounds.
Quarter Finals: Will be held the week of June 15-21 at the host locations on their respective days. The 16 qualifiers per location will be required to be at their qualifying location to perform on the following dates:
- Tues June 17: Casa’s 9:30PM-1:30AM
- Wed June 18: The Whiskey 9PM-1AM
- Thurs June 19: The Mill 9:00PM-1:00AM
The Quarter finals will take place at the beginning of the above evenings during the stated times.
All of the top 16 to attend and will perform. Judging is based on Natural Ability 25%, Performance Quality 25%, Showmanship 25%, and Audience Rapport 25%.
Semi Finals: Semi Finals will be held the week of June 22-28 at the host locations on their respective days. The 10 qualifiers from the Quarter Finals will be required to be at their qualifying locations to perform on the following dates:
- Tues June 24: Casa’s 9:30PM-1:30AM
- Wed June 25: The Whiskey 9PM-1AM
- Thurs June 26: The Mill 9:00PM-1:00AM
All contestants to attend, the top 10 will be announced and will perform. Judging is based on Natural Ability 25%, Performance Quality 25%, Showmanship 25%, and Audience Rapport 25%.
3 contestants will qualify per host location for a total of 9 finalists to appear Sunday, July 13 at The Bluesfest International. There are 1 wild card spot open. This will be decided on Sunday, June 29 and the 1 wild card finalist will be contacted by email.
The 10 finalists will be required to attend as many shows between the semi finals and finals as possible. There is a 2 week period in between for rehearsal.
Final Show: The 10 finalists will be required to be available to perform on Sunday July 13 at The Bluesfest International. There will be one stand in contestant per host location in case of one of the 10 finalists being unable to perform on Sunday, July 13.
Contestants must be at Bluesfest International by 1PM.
- All judgments are final and shall in no way be altered.
- The Windsor Bluesfest Idol organizers and judges reserve the right to decide on alternate participants if any entrant must leave the competition.
- The Windsor Bluesfest Idol organizers reserve the right to alter times, dates and participant numbers if the need arises.
- First, second and third place winners of the final round will receive a cash prize. First place winner will receive recording time at a local studio.
Cash Prizes are as follows:
- 1st place-$1000
- 2nd place-$250
- 3rd place-$100
- All 10 Finalists will receive membership to Canada South Blues Society until the end of 2008. They will also receive $20 gift certificates from each host location ($60 total value). There will be more prizes announced as the finals draw closer. Please visit www.kingsizeent.com for details
- Once you have auditioned, you must select a song that you may be asked to perform at the first show if chosen as one of the top 16 for a particular location.
- If chosen as one of the top 16 participants (for a particular location), you will need to prepare by emailing the names of two song choices to the Windsor Bluesfest Idol organizers. Your music will be supplied by KingSize Entertainment. Your performance must not exceed 4 minutes. You must submit an email with 2 songs before June 14. Please have your name and qualifying location in the email. Choice of your show song will be at the discretion of the Windsor Bluesfest Idol organizers if duplication occurs.
*Amateur vocalist is defined as anyone who DOES NOT have a recording contract with a record company. If you are in a band and have produced and marketed your own CD’s, you are eligible.
